File Recovery From Unbootable Windows XP Computer

Sometimes when you try to boot your Windows XP computer, the system may not boot and you may encounter some error messages related to missing system files. Cause

You may encounter this problem due to missing boot files or other system files. Loss of these file does not let the Windows boot and you face file inaccessibility and data loss problems.
This problem may also occur due to missing or corrupt boot partition of your Windows hard drive or damaged file system. In all these cases, you need to perform File Recovery by resolving this problem to access your critical data.

Resolution

1. To resolve this problem, try following things:
2. Edit Boot.ini file.
3. Use Bootcfg utility to correct Boot.ini file is Recovery Console.
4. Copy Ntoskrnl.exe file from CD and paste it to Windows folder.

These methods are helpful, only if you can log into Windows folder. It you do not get log in options in Recovery Console, then these methods may not be completed. In these situations, you need to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP to resolve the issue.
